Joseph B. Soriaga received the B.S.E.E. from Caltech and Ph.D. E.C.E. from UC San Diego in the area of communications systems, coding and information theory. Since 2005, he has been with Corporate R&D at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. He has contributed to the commercial development of base station and handset modems and played key roles both in driving 5G NR Core Physical Layer R&D at Qualcomm as well as in standardizing 5G NR in 3GPP RAN1 (including specification editorship). He is currently with Qualcomm AI Research, whose mission is to find breakthroughs in fundamental AI research and scale them across industries both at the mobile and in the cloud.
